Arrival to Kilimanjaro International Airport

After your flight from home, you will arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and begin your Tanzania family safari. You will be met by our team and transferred to the Gran Meliá Hotel Arusha, a luxurious hotel located in the heart of Arusha, close to all the major attractions. You will have time to relax and freshen up before dinner at the hotel restaurant. You will spend your overnight at Gran Melia hotel, waiting for the next day of your luxury Tanzania Family Safari tour.

Safari to Lake Natron and Oldonyo Lengai

After breakfast, you will depart from Arusha in a comfortable 4x4 safari vehicle and drive to Lake Natron, a beautiful alkaline lake with a pH of 10. The lake is home to a large number of flamingos, which nest and hatch there between September and March. Some parts of the lake are colored red due to the high temperature, minerals, and bacteria in the water.

You will also visit Oldonyo Lengai, a volcano that is sacred to the Maasai people. The volcano is still active, and you may be able to see smoke rising from the crater.

In the morning, you will depart from your luxurious lodge in iKaratu and drive to the Hadzabe tribe, one of the most primitive tribes in Africa. The Hadzabe are a nomadic people who live in the Lake Eyasi region and survive by hunting and gathering. You will have the opportunity to learn about their culture and way of life and even join them on a hunting expedition. 

In the afternoon, you will visit the Datoga tribe, who are known for their blacksmithing skills. You will see how they make the arrows that the Hadzabe use for hunting and learn about their unique culture.

After breakfast, you will depart from your luxurious lodge in Arusha and visit the Meserani Snake Park, home to a variety of reptiles, including crocodiles, pythons, and cobras. You will have the opportunity to learn about the snakes and even hold some of them.

After the snake park, you will visit the Arusha Cultural Market, where you can browse for souvenirs and learn about the local culture.

In the afternoon, you will go canoeing on Lake Dulute, a beautiful lake surrounded by mountains. You will have the opportunity to relax and enjoy the scenery. Departure Day (High End Family Safari in Tanzania)
